These are competitive companies. I fail to understand why they do not set a fair return on each drug sold into a country? Why doesn't mrk and pfe when trying to sell drugs to Canada set a limit on acceptable margins? Because they are told by the countries that they will tell their own drug companies to violate the patents and produce the drugs generically if they don't cut price to them. I think our drug companies are going to lose this USA battle and be forced to price control. When they are, you will see the new drugs reduced in number. We are already using the FDA to keep new drugs off the market. It's a real shame.

First, till recently, I bought most Rx's through Canada. The falling $, along with increases in Canadian pricing, have obliterated much of the advantage. Meanwhile, I've been a guinea pig for a couple of research studies. The Dr. running the show is trying to expedite final results on one where the trial concluded about a year ago. Seems Lilly is fixing to about halve their research budget and compete more with generics. The Dr. is trying to get in under the wire with that particular trial. We should not be in the business to subsidize other countries drug usage that hurt our elderly and poor with high drug prices here Yup, but.....?
