The good news is that I made it to the Barnett talk. The bad news is that my battery died, and I had to leave my car in the Union Station parking garage.

Took the Metro to Chris's office, we bought a new battery and are heading back.

The talk was mostly familiar if you have watched the C-SPAN shows, with some new stuff that I assume will be in his new book. Now that he's no longer working for the Navy he was a bit more acerbic towards his former employer, and pitching the policy arguments more towards his audience, mostly staffers.

Standing room only, I stood in the doorway until about halfway through. The young staffers were sitting on the floor everywhere taking notes to report back to their bosses. My guess is that a dozen or two of the audience was general public. No problem getting in, I just had to go through a metal detector.

Chris has the toolbox so we need to go back and swap batteries.

Later.
