I've got VoIP at home. It's easy to get over the AC power failure issue, just get a backup power supply. Just two months of phone bill savings pays for one.

True. That is an issue, but we almost never have power failures. So I'm finding it a minor annoyance only. Plus, I found out that my POTS, which has been disconnected will still let me dial 911. Interesting tidbit.
