What I said is that Hitler was more right than left. The truth is he was crazy and he was dangerous......that makes his ideology a distant second.

The left right game wears on me in this instance. You and I must agree to disagree which side of the aisle Hitler was on.

I have nothing against conservatives. I myself am fiscally conservative. What worries me about Bush is that he is fiscally irresponsible, and in spite of all their rhetoric, I don't think some of the Bushies have a strong commitment to our democratic institutions.

We agree that the budgets that have passed have not been frugal. Some inausterity came from President Bush and some from Congress. Did you know that there are dozens of programs on the budget that President Bush has axed in every budget? For example the $8.5M whale fishing historical grant crafted so only Washington State, Alaska and Massachusetts museums qualify. This is one example of Congressional pork for which the President is blamed. Since Republicans "control" both houses of Congress, the blame rests on Republican shoulders.

Saddam was a small fish in a relatively small pond.......and not all that bright.

Perhaps you are right. Maybe Saddam was bigger threat if OBL was able to use his resources. The fact that there were links at some levels between Iraq and Al Qaeda is well established.

The one I fear is Osama. He too looks to be a genius. This month's National Geographic shows a town near the town from where Osama's family comes. If you could see his origins, you would realize that he is probably is as austere and barren inside as the landscape is in Yemen. The desert leaves little room for emotion. To survive, you have to be as hard as it is.

But OBL is sickly and cannot survive his kidney problem forever. Having free run of a country was very different than dodging from hiding place to hiding place. We agree that AL Qaeda is probably the largest threat to humanity we currently face.

Iran is becoming a larger threat.
