There really is no comparison with pitchers. I suppose if you found one who could go 9 innings four times in a 7 game series, you might have a better case. But Cy Young retired a century or so ago.

Anyway, with regard to rating the various QBs, it clearly comes down to a combination of factors -- including results. On balance, was Bradshaw a better player than Marino? No, he wasn't, even though he won three championships and Marino won none. But there's no denying that Marino's performance dropped in big games. His teams made the playoffs ten times, yet he advanced to the Superbowl only once (where he played a pedestrian game). His career passer rating of 77.1 in the playoffs, along with his completion pct and yards/attempt, are well below his regular season norms. Compare this to guys like Brady and Marino whose passer ratings in the playoffs are higher than their regular season totals.

So, as I said earlier, I believe Marino is probably the best passer of all time, but he lacked a lot of intangibles, especially those it takes to be successful in the biggest games.
