The leadership vacuum was left and quickly the parties fill it in. Chaves, an old-style populist can spoil the show, hence it has to be accommodated not to cause too much problems.

But he comes in very very handy! We can use him to prod the US. Selling some planes, those dollars are welcome of course, helping here and there and such and keep watching how the U.S. reacts.

Considering that "liberal" is a term of abuse for the neo-cons, this comes across as a compliment :-)

But I fear that Chavez might meet with an accident.
