Ok, what sources would those be?

As far as the statistics, keeping them is one of the things governments do. It enables them to make informed decisions. If they aren't keeping those statistics, then that is telling also. They are flying blind.

There was likely a strong political motivation for releasing that number. It should be easy to counter, the numbers should be there. They aren't. Just waving your hands and dismissing it because of the likelihood of being politically motivated is the equivalent of looking at someone's finger when they point at a problem...
