Your side of the eisle has yet to forward a counterproposal. Thus, the only proposal under discussion is President Bush's. It is the best proposal I hae heard from any politician to solve the problem.

This is quite a good point. You have to hand it to Bush. He had the guts to not only touch, but to bear hug what virtually every other politician since the 1930's has considered the Third Rail of politics.

I can't stand Bush. But I really admire the guy.

>>So if I understand you, your idea is that President Bush or the Republicans have to propose solutions until you find one that is ok with you. Democrats are absolved of any responsibility for presenting ideas? Being an editor is much easier than being an author.

The way the political system generally works is either one person suggests such a brilliant idea that everyone instantly agrees that it is perfect (yah right), or the sides haggle over competing visions for the solution. Your side of the eisle has yet to forward a counterproposal. Thus, the only proposal under discussion is President Bush's. It is the best proposal I hae heard from any politician to solve the problem.<<

Peter -

My point is that the President hasn't yet proposed a solution.

How does diverting funds from the SS trust fund into private accounts solve the problem of not having enough money in the trust fund? Even the President's own people agree that it doesn't.

In opposing the President's plan, the Democrats are therefore not opposing "any" solution. They're opposing something that actually makes the problem worse.
