I'm sorry. I focused on the bold part of your post...assuming that it was the main part of your argument. Unfortunately I can only argue one point at a time, as I cannot see the entire network of interdependent thoughts that you entertain in your brain and expect that everyone else will see it the same as you. What amazes me is that you can't understand any other position except your own.

I understand that some heterosexual folks are very anti gay marriage. The President said he supported an amendment to the constitution to limit the rights of gays to marry. It goes contrary to many people's own ideals of what marriage should be.

At one point in time, blacks were thought to be sub-human. They were property to be owned and used as one liked. They had no vote and they could not go to school. This was deemed proper by most white people. The constitution reduced their rights. Now those inequities have been righted. A war was fought to make these changes.

We need to respect the rights of all people. Amending the constitution to limit rights is the wrong way to go.
