I'll take any hard data of increased cpu share as a positive iindicator for the stock price. Who is doing the buying will just determine how big and sustainable the increase will be. Of course if you would be happier, we could all pray for no increase in cpu share...
So how are you going to determine who is buying, if I might ask? i.e., what data source do you thnk we'll have access to determine if increased cpu share is from switchers? We already discussed the data on steadily increasing percentage of internet usage coming from Mac. Got any other ideas?

>>That all depends on if the sales are to "cult members" or to new schools or businesses not just upgrades. Upgrades from from G3 - G5 or a G5 adding a Mini does real change things. Even a Dell owner buying a Mini for a media server doesn't real change things.

You need NEW users which is still not apparent.<<

Don -

If PC sales slow while Mac sales increase, then Apple will have increased market share. That is not debatable. It's just how calculations of market share work.

By the way, your example of a Dell owner buying a Mini would seem to represent a big change. If every PC owner also bought a Mac, that would give Apple a 50% market share. It wouldn't matter whether the PC owners continued to use their PCs or not.

Don,

That all depends on if the sales are to "cult members"...

But since ALL SWITCHERS become members of the Apple CULT, how do we judge whether Apple is gaining share?

:-)
