The most difficult aspect of poverty is where children are involved. Unfortunately some parents will use kids for a free ride, but it is still preferable to err on the side of compassion in such cases. The best that can often be done is to provide kids with the best education possible with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty. I'm in favor of school vouchers and trade schools for those less academically inclined. I'm also quite critical of the NEA and firmly believe a much better job can be done than is currently.
