You know what supports my belief in socialization versus genes? Every succeeding generation over the last few generations has become increasingly supportive of gays. Talk of gay rights in my father's generation was a non-starter. In my generation, its half and half. Heck, my wife thinks their is nothing wrong with gay marriage or being gay. My kids think I'm hopelessly behind the times on the gay issue. I suspect over time, this country will get increasingly secular and with that, fewer of the moral taboos from religion will hold sway. More and more people will experiment with their sexuality, making all sorts of combinations more and more acceptable. A few decades from now, your notion that gay people don't have a choice will be considered just as quaint as my notion that being gay is wrong. People will revel in the many choices they believe they have over the self-imposed lack of choices my generation and those prior had.

Of course, I see all this coming, but I strongly disapprove. I think it is wrong and presages the end of the strong morals that made this country the guiding light that it became for generations of people all over the world. We've become a fat and hedonistic society and we will surely pay the price in the form of a loss of leadership and wealth in the world.
