it's indefensible

what makes it truly egregious is the abuse of power in the teacher-student relationship

Any adult who knowingly violates his state's statuatory rape laws has no right to complain when he has to face the music.

Absolutely. Something we can totally agree on.

And she did in fact face the music, to the tune of about 8 years in prison, and loss of her job and her first marriage.

Maybe you don't think that's enough punishment for what she did, which certainly was a crime under the laws of Washington, but you can't say she didn't face the music.

And I haven't heard her complaining about it. Rather, I have heard her trying to put those bad years behind her and move on with her life and marry a young man who is an adult and the father of two of her children and perfectly entitled legally to marry her. She says she's trying to rehabilitate herself and become a productive citizen.

Isn't this what we want ex cons to do?
