One site which monitors 'transparency'
and ability to obtain information
electronically says WA state is the best,
unfortunately I cannot find the link
(but imma looking because its good,
looks at individuals in politics as
opposed to washingtonvotes.org which
vets legislation)--when not if I find
it, I will post it to you.
MEANWHILE -- here is a site under the
freedom of information act that links
and shows a whole lot of information
on cities, counties and state of Washington
government and maybe (since it also shows
private property owners of King county)
your query of who gets subsidies may be there,
as well as going to the local USDA and
asking.

I thought you might like that site--
(I linked this post to the wrong post of yours-oops)
I have looked up teacher salaries and people I know
who told me they work for peanuts in their civil-based
employment--Renton firefighter--4944.00 a month.(2003)
Renton Library Director-- 7496.00 per month(2003)
the police captain there made 6792.00 per month (2003)
peanuts.

I found what I thought I was looking for:
(its not quite what I remember--- call me
dense but I am honest.<g>)
The Center For Public Integrity:
All too often, legislators' private interests are hidden from public view
publicintegrity.org

In Your State - Washington
Center Identifies Potential for Conflict in State Legislature
publicintegrity.org

I had been looking for retirement plans and stock holdings.

lobbyist--
publicintegrity.org

I thought there was a link to federal programs there
(so far I cannot find it, so I have to go through
notes and see where I recall I have info on it--
and why would I have that you ask--
well as it turns out we (there are 8 of us) may have
to receive some kind of 'farm subsidy'. Definitely
land conservation but some crops also (maybe wheat)
but that is for my cousin to decide as the estate
has given him authority to run the day to day on the
ranch/farm (no cattle for the last couple of years,
my uncle died of cancer and was too sick to handle them
and sold them but didn't want to leave the ranch)
[I AM PART OF THE PROBLEM!----like those actors, writers you hear about]
I do know those names are public.

I think this table is interesting about defense contractors:
publicintegrity.org
(goto that link and read the chart of no-bid contracts
and who is the biggest and where Halliburton fits in
and the government of Canada)
