I take this as further evidence that the market mood is turning mean. That bodes well for a medium term correction proceeding here. But as Reid points out, options expiry introduces a bit of a monkey wrench, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of rebound tomorrow.

It's early in the session still, but the index futures are up a bit. Oil is closing in on $48/barrel. But at 8:30 am tomorrow ET, there's a slew of economic reports due out, particularly Initial Claims and the PPI. If there are any significant surprises, that could have a definite effect. Given what we are talking about, I think the current market bias will tend to overappreciate any bad news and underappreciate any good news.
