there is no doubt that Syrians were behind hariris assasination. I was shocked to here the news. I had met him in 1995 and again in 2002 not that he would remembers me. If a man of that wealth, and power is not safe then who is! He was backed by the Unites States but he was a partitot that loved his country and worked hard to rebuild Lebanon. I believe the withdrawal of the US Embassador is clear message to young Assad. What will follow is interesting.

The US escalation against Syria is, imo, a nexus of things.... First, it's a timely distraction to defuse the Iran/nuclear crisis --even though both Syria and Iran just announced their mutual assistance pact.... It's also a way for the US to engage France, the former mandatory power of Syria and Lebanon. I suspect the US strategy is to get French help on the Iranian issue (when it gets to the UNSC) in exchange of US support to keep/enhance French influence in Lebanon/Syria....
