The Shah is not painted as a devil and he certainly did some terrible things thru the secret police. But if i remember correctly, he had a great army leadership corps--perhaps Sandhurst folks mixed in with American trained. When the revolution came, it is unclear to me what happened to these people. The Iran/Iraq war gives little evidence of them being around given the dilapidated condition of their army due to the way the new regime treated the rest of the world. Or maybe teenage human wave assaults was the best they could do under the circumstances. It would be nice to think of the new iran army as a liberal force there rather than mullah owned and operated. Sun Tzu might know if someone who he is not ignoring wants to give him a holler. Mike
