Ted,

the current situation is expected to remain "slightly" depressed until 2007, when the Dataquests and other prophets believe it will pick up again. The reality is that those guys don't know zilch. I know some of them, not the sharpest knives in the dish-washer.
The worst of this is that we just slowly came out of the longest semiconductor down-turn ever, enjoyed a couple of optimistic quarters and now hanging in there again.
A 5 years recession, which wiped out many great start-ups with exquisite technology and put others like PMCS, AMCC and VTSS at the brink of belly up.
The whole industry is quite sick right now and as a consequence even TSMC got some hick-ups.
I have been with this industry now since 1969 with my first but certainly not last recession 1970-1972. My company operates right smack in the midst of this and we took a 35% revenue hit from FY2000 to FY2001.
