When you implied they were socialists because they carried signs with the word on them. Just as you imply the Nazis were socialists because their party was titled National Socialists.

Wrong again! I said that "at least they see themselves as socialistic" in the tradition of the original National Socialisten. And don't forget that "Liberals" in Europe back in the 50s and 60s definitely were not socialistic parties. Thus jumping the conclusion that the Nazis were Liberals because of a non existing common element of what the Liberals did not house seems to me frivolous indeed.

Also you may have notice that Liberal in the US and in Europe does not imply the same set of political values. Just look at FDP, the German Liberal party as a good example.
