I'm just noodlin here, but it you think about it, the only reason Citibank is in the stock broker business is to sell stock to their otherwise insured depositors from companies that they have lent money to, to pay off their loan. Something the Glass Steagall act would have prevented had it still been the law.

TA, which in good times can be used for camoflage, to have something to talk about, maybe sell a couple of shares to, has no use when times get tough.

You don't need TA to sell 15Billion dollars worth of Enron stock to while the company and its Citibank loans are headed for bankrupcy. THAT is what they mean when they say they are going to put more emphasis on "fundamentals". Fundamentals can justify an Enron purchase. TA would only be in the way.

Now that Citi has paid its first 5 Billion dollars in settlements to date, there is no need for TA.

Futher, think about it. Why wouldn't they just keep the TA people who are on straight commission???

No there is somethin' happenin' here. Stay tooned, sportsfans.

Duke

Citi/SBSH axing entire T/A team? Not exactly a vote of confidence in T/A! And very interesting news - especially since the day trading brokers like Berber pumped T/A scalping day in and day out.
