Biggest problem in NYC is black women whose husbands are gay. A black friend of mine told me that black gay men are often in denial and get married, have kids etc. but poker night with the boys turns out not to be poker night if you get what i mean. Thus unprotected gay sex and then bringing it home to their wives. Its bad enough that gay folks practicing unsafe sex get the disease but for their wives and unborn kids.......a horror show.

What it is proving is that no one is safe and that it is far better to use preventive measures than take a risk.

Also.. one last thing. In the retirement homes that have sprung up in the last decade the widows and widowers are mating and they think they are too old to be part of an epidemic.. hence they do not take precautions.

I expect that we all remember the "immortality" that we felt as teenagers. I'm not sure it's a whole lot different when we get older, i.e., there's still a lot of people with the attitude. ~It won't happen to me.

There's some data on the CDC site in their annual AIDS report...roughly it's the 20-35 age group that has the highest infection rate, then it dips down and climbs back up over the age of 65. As you said, they don't take precautions.
