Yes. Back then, you had to ban by alias. If an alias had been used more than once, a threadhead couldn't do it; Admin had to. As I understand it, the banning was actually done by member number. but only they had access to the software that would ban by member number. The current system, which requires that you post to a thread before you can be banned, fixed that problem.
