I wasn't really disputing or referencing the value of religion,
organized or otherwise.

My point assumed, arguendo, Maher's underlying
premise about the effect of religion on critical thought
and pointed out that secularism, like PCism, is just
another form of "religion." . While it might not
be practiced in "church", its narcotic effect is the same.

There's a certain arrogant sense of superiority in Maher's
comments, imo. I don't think he realizes how his own
philosophy is similarly limiting.
