John and Thread, this is sad:

news.yahoo.com

Why would such a thing get created in our society?

Very sad. What's even worse is that many more kids are growing up overweight, and suffering from diabetes I [adult onset] and II and asthma. Some MDs are reporting that some teenagers have arteries that look like a mature adult's. This is an important level that the American culture seems to be failing.

One cousin's daughter is anorexic while his son is overweight His wife smokes weed to get through the day, and he is working 24/7 to insure he can retire at 45 and be worth millions. They are living the American dream and they can't imagine why their kids are so messed up. :~((

re: Red bracelets represent anorexia, purple is for bulimia and black and blue is for self injury, such as cutting and self mutilation.

Have a friend whose kid was into "cutting". What a nightmare, I can't imagine what that would be like.

Because someone can make money doing it?

It's not illegal.

Is it sick? Very.

Sad, yes.
