Yiwu the Mad is amazed by "Western" media spin. <It amazes me that how these Western media can spin. > I suppose she believed that they were totally apolitical people, [giggle], or, did she really mean that she considers them spinmeisters supreme, as expected of such heathen foreign devils? Of course the great Chinese truth-telling proletariat publications report the one great truth, as approved by HQ in Beijing [and they go to gaol, or get shot, if they don't agree on just what is the "truth".]

What a joke.

In Yiwu's Clonesville China, people aren't even allowed to visit websites of their choice, or write unapproved things, let alone "spin" anything.

Try suggesting in China that Taiwanese should run their own country and see how long it is before the megalomaniac marauders come to take you away.

It was a rather dark article- not something I'd normally pass along. It wasn't so long ago that Li sold off a stake in CIBC, then funded a foundation with a relatively large grant.

At the time, some speculation concerned the potential tax offsets generated by the move might presage further moves out of other Canadian companies (?Husky?). I haven't tracked the life and times of Li, and am in no position to judge.

I would expect some efforts at behind the scenes technology transfers (in the name of greater prosperity for the people) given the predominate nation state and scarcity mode thinking manifest currently.

Love one another and cooperate would preclude the need for such machinations, but then we do need a mechanism to deal with those predisposed to use clubs or other such means of force to disrupt our peaceful pursuit of simple pleasures.
