The thing is the LYING and the HYPOCRISY. Mehlman is the chairman of the RNC whose platform makes him (if he is indeed gay) a second class citizen. That also means he kowtows to the nutcase religious fundamentalists who despise homosexuality in everyone including in themselves. If Mehlman is gay, he should come out and say so because being outed is simply stupid. I suspect if he does, he'll be hounded to death by his own party. This is the same problem with Keyes and with the Cheneys. They are fixtures of the RNC with that inane platform but they have lesbian daughters. As I've always said, the Cheneys were far to the left of any of the candidates last year on this one issue and, IMO, Cheney is actually FOR gay marriage. It's pure, unadulterated hypocrisy and hate talk from the RNC. If the party splits over this all the better. --- Regarding Guckert, that's just pure hypocrisy for the party which hounded Clinton over an adulterous affair. If Guckert were simply having an affair with McClellan or Rove or whomever, who the heck would care. He is however: - engaged in ILLEGAL ACTIVITY which is what prostitution still is - in receipt of very extra special super duper attention from the highest ranks of the WH - is an absolute positive idiotic LIAR about his background, about his bona fides, about his second job These are the things that are stupid about Guckert and stupid about the RNC. Oh yeah, the rightwing is trying very hard to move the news to 'liberals are against homosexuals'. It's a very transparent tactic.
