Same thing could be true with gays. Maybe there is some small percentage that are predisposed to being gay because of their physical makeup, but the majority are gay due to socialization and personal choices. This theory fits the best. I'd bet this is what they will find as scientists investigate the issue further.

The experiment I would like to see is correct sexual hormonal boosts (of the embryo) during the 10-16'th weeks of pregnancy. The sexual organ tissues differentiate near the beginning of this time for both males and females, while the associated brain development occurs near the end (IIRC). That interval looks enticing as a possible source of problems. I'd like to make sure the gender development remains firmly to one side across this time span. Then follow to adulthood, and see if homosexual occurrence is reduced compared to a control.

I think homosexuality has little to do with the physiological changes an embryo goes through and I question whether it has a lot to do with the formation of the brain either. I am more inclined to believe its an aberration of the human genome....a gene malfunction or a gene misfiring...or a group of genes in sequence. But even that is difficult to believe because the malfunction/misfiring occurs so consistently.

It makes you wonder if there reallly is a God with a plan. <g>
