Typical WSJ.

re: Or something like that. I am sure the Administration will try to spin this as a positive. Hmm, I thought Bush looked deep into Putin's eyes and saw into his soul...

His own soul?

Seriously, the whole world seems to be in a scramble to hook up into blocks to counter US power and hegemony. That, coupled with our trade imbalances, and dependence on oil imports, puts us on shaky ground. The trend isn't our friend.

And what's up with Brazil? Seems like I keep reading snippets about Brazil becoming a significant world player? Brazil, Russia and China in an alliance?!?

you know, combjelly, I know you posted that with facetious intent, but I think you have something there. If Europe and China become a counterweight to U.S. power, then stability will be more likely. You know what they say about power...absolute power corrupts absolutely. When you have absolute military power, it's all too tempting to use it. In addition, it takes the pressure off of you to use diplomacy. When you have to use diplomacy, it's amazing how good at it you get over time.

Yes, I think they had a gay moment but of course, Bush spun it into something religious and spiritual. <g>
