VP: Good post. The greatest danger to Venezuela's democracy is a propaganda campaign that paints Chavez as the leader of a military dictatorship. Unfortunately the USA has a long history of pushing for "democratic elections" in some countries while fermenting coups against democratically elected governments in others. I hope they stay out of this and every other political struggle in Latin America. Interestingly I was last down in Nicaragua a couple of weeks after the Sandinistas won the municipal elections in most cities -- and who should suddenly drop in for a visit? Little Donald Rumsfeld no less! Coincidence? Maybe.. Regards, Howy
