But the underlying issue has been mostly swept under the rug in favor of the indignation of a few. Larry Summers seems to be capable of thinking "outside the box" and willing to take whatever consequences befall him for doing so. The crux of the matter is the fact that women are under represented in science and engineering tenured positions at university and research institutions. Jewish American men are underrepresented in farming and in the NBA. To suggest that it has something to do with innate abilities is not thinking "out of the box". It is thinking "out of the mind". As Dan Quayle used to say, "a mind is a terrible thing to lose". I didn't know what he meant by that. Now I do. "could it be possible....., could it be possible....." A university president can't go around and be provocative by asking stupid questions - Could it be possible that Spiderman is really hiding out in Forest Hills?
