Lowell E. Jacoby, is accurate, we are less secure today than before we invaded Iraq. "Islamic extremists are exploiting the Iraqi conflict to recruit new anti-U.S. jihadists," Goss told the Senate Intelligence Committee last week.<<<lewrockwell.com Now search back in your honest mind's eye, your memory, and recall the words of those of us posting on the DON'T START THE WAR thread. Now, I know you were there front and center, posting near-continuously on the pro-war side. Is your memory today as good as was your appearance there then? Do you recall those of us predicting then precisely what Jacoby and Goss just informed the committee? I belive you kept responding to our concerns with something like: [paraphrase] No problem, Bush will fix it. Today, the US puppet is not leading Iraq's government; the US contracting windfall became only a quick hit 'take' for certain of Bush's contracting insiders; the future of the oil is uncertain instead of certain (unless the US military remains); Iraq, as we predicted, has become like Israel has been for the past four decades; the US has lost considerable standing in the world amongst its allies; and an Islamic theocratic Iraqi government is about to take hold and one which very likely could align--if not completely enjoin--with Iran, thus, given the tremendous oil resources, making a new Iran an extremely powerful force not just in the region, but in the world. ... and worse than all of the above? America's sons and daughters are caught in a death and maiming spiral and ca. 100,000 Iraqis have, one way or another, been killed, many more than that maimed and wounded and so very many Iraqi families uprooted and decimated and psychologically destroyed--this together with America pouring money desperately needed here at home down an Iraqi drainpipe. Please, JLA, inform us how comfortable you are about all of the above.
