Jay,

France did it, they increased funding costs for everyone!

1. They have to pay a higher interest rate as the term is 50yrs.
2. Yields on shorter-term instruments will drop
3. Borrowing costs for everyone will rise as institutions have these options

Is it no coincidence that France and Germany have had the offerings of the longest duration recently?

Are they trying to screw the US? They are increasing everyone's funding cost in the process, and those two can least afford it!
