Liked the article. Hastings looks younger than I imagined he would. Also, it's interesting that Netflix initially charged late-fees despite that the idea for its launch stemmed from a protest against late-fees.

Any thoughts on Netflix's future? With Blockbuster's aggressiveness, I think that Netflix's best days are behind it.

However, with plenty of cash on its balance sheet and its cash flow positive position, NFLX will be around for awhile.

Over the next few years, Netflix will likely get bought out by a cable company, if only for the VOD capabilities that it brings to the table.

As Mr. Hastings has previously pointed out, VOD is not that valuable without a mechanism to filter, sort, and organize thousands of potential titles. A remote control just doesn't do it.

Netflix's customer rating history and recommendation system could prove valuable to a cable company in a VOD context.
