Was you son ready for college after the military? No, he wasn't. Remember, most aren't. The school system thinks it is wrong to challenge kids, and they don't hit reality until they go on the labor market. A lot of them end up getting college degrees in "Early morning bird watching" or "underwater basket weaving" before they face reality. Then they are really screwed. They can't get a job that requires a college degree, and can't get considered for a job that doesn't. I saw so much of this when I was in the employment business.
