The truest definition of freedom is the freedom to be stupid. (Assuming that one's 'stupidity' does not harm others....) This is the most profound division in American conservatism today: the division between 'Big Government conservatives' (who REQUIRE the power of the State to proscribe behaviors that they disaprove of) and 'Small Government conservatives' (who believe that true conservatism's goal should be to conserve the freedoms for individuals left to us by out founding fathers. You, obviously, have signed up with the 'Big Government conservatives' (otherwise known as Authoritarian conservatives), whether you admit the obvious or not. I am in the other camp, supporting Libertarian (anti-Authoritarian) goals.
