We do believe it would be serious. We've talked about it at home. We've tried to make some contingency plans. 1918 was a very scary time, and no doubt there will be another very similar to it.

I think it is highly probable, but that there is little that the U.S. can do to prevent it without a big initiative (and even then it could be too little, too late). And certainly not anything without involving science. We know how Bush feels about egg-heads and his tendency to ignore issues that he doesn't understand.
