I 've been using Adaware for quite awhile and used Spybot but some reviews said it wasn't very good and I noticed after running Adaware, Spybot never found anything else so I abandoned it. Then a newsletter I get did a follow up report on a study concerning which spyware/adware removers worked best. See:

It said basically that Microsoft's beta version was better than any others so I downloaded and ran that on my wife's laptop. It found no problems. Then, just for the fun of it, I ran Adaware and it found 16 pieces of critical spyware (tracking cookies in this case). So it seems the more I read, the dumber I get.

All I know is that I've been spyware free for quite some time thanks to something or other.<g>
