wrt long & deep. It is rather relative. Castro was a revolutionary in his youth. He is not one now. In one lifetime that change can occur.

There are a handful of American religions, founded in the 1800s. Revolutionary in their beginnings, most are now totally obsessed with defending the status quo. The best laid plans of mice and men...

Regarding Ss & Tax cuts. The problem is that fiscal conservatism used to be linked to political conservatives, while tax and spend was considered the liberal way. That split started blurring with Ronnie, and seems pretty murky to me in the current state of affairs.
