I do like the EU as a good example coming out of Europe. I dislike the bureaucratic socialist thrust of it, but the concept of a supranational body is right up my alley.

New Zealand should join the EU too, though we, or me anyway, don't like the mass migration of Moslems, or anyone, who seem to be universally dangerous due to their ideas of manifest destiny to rule the world and force their ideas down my throat, with death to me if I don't obey. The Spanish inquisition and any such ideological megalomaniacs, like Yiwu the Mad, are nasty nasty nasty for normal human life. The Christian churches used to be horrors of terror - burnings at the stake, stakes through the heart. More of the same in the 21st century isn't my idea of fun.

PS: On the other hand, if it hasn't been cut off for apostasy, I do like the fact that in Saudi Arabia, the shopkeepers can leave their store without fear that the till will be raided by thieves. Note that Islamic countries have very low AIDS rates, even in Africa where HIV is rampant in non-Moslem areas. Where crime really doesn't pay, criminals tend to keep it to themselves. But management of criminals is nothing to do with supernatural beliefs and religion, and all to do with temporal management.
