This remark, taken alone, is sufficient to determine that you haven't any idea what you're talking about.

They did. They raised taxes. And said, "This will get us by for a few years until the problem can be addressed more comprehensively. Raising taxes is not a solution, just a stopgap."

Greenspan came out in favor of private accounts in principle (same as I have). He said go slow and that the effect on the financial markets was unpredictable. And besides, Greenspan is a hack, he supports the programs of whoever is in power at the moment.
