I don't think that gay rights is a left wing cause. It's not like the left went out and said we need a cause...here are the gays that are being bashed by the right wing...let's pick them as our cause.

It's not like that at all. Progressives are for human rights. For less government interference in peoples private lives. Certainly gay people should enjoy those same rights. Progressives are for all people's rights. I'm happy to argue for my gay friends that they too should be able to pursue happiness.

I'd have to agree with you about Clinton damaging the women's movement. They supported Clinton, and then Clinton turned out to be pretty shallow and consumed by sexual desires. The entire country paid a high price for his indiscretions. The republicans upped the ante on the cost, hoping to benefit from Clinton's demise. I think they have benefited too, but that benefit is running out. It certainly sent shockwaves through both parties as many republicans had to resign in shame as a new era of "sexual misconduct hunting" emerged by opponents on both sides of the aisle.

Really sad that it happened that way. Hopefully we can go forward from here with respect for human rights.
