I have been keeping watch.......real estate is becoming so valuable and housing so scarce, regardless of location, that I expect prices to continue to increase substantially until city planners rectify the problem of the lack of affordable housing in urban locations.

Even Harlem has become chic......and expensive.

<<The house I deeded over to my ex when we divorced a few years ago has doubled in value.>>

About 25 years ago a friend of mine built a house with the help of his uncle who was a carpenter. Later he got married and divorced, wife got the house as he didn't want to contest the divorce. Because the title was transferred it was treated as a sale and he had to pay income taxes on the amount the house had appreciated since he built it.
