Not really. Germany and Japan were allies. Because Japan bombed our fleet at Pearl Harbor, we declared war on them. It is common under those circumstances, to also declare war on their allies, assuming that they don't declare war on you first.

I guess they don't teach history in school any more...

What a ludicrous analogy! How is going to war in Europe to defend our allies against imperialism and genocide analogous to george WARMONGER bush invading Iraq? Which of our allies had been invaded and asked for our help to defend their borders? Which race was being systematically killed? This is a war entirely of bush's making that serves no purpose and violates our Constitution. Killing civilians in Iraq has nothing to do with defending our country. It makes the world more dangerous by fomenting vengeful oppressed people that volunteer to be mujahadin and terrorists.
