nice to see you agreeing with me. Despite saying it's a silly argument you now acknowledge that X3 will provide much less of a boost in performance for 8MB Potomac than it provides for 1MB Cranford.

That's because it's starting from a higher baseline. That's the point. Potomac will be a higher baseline, read faster. Thanks for agreeing with me.

4 socket dual core Opteron HP 585 will outperform IBM 4-way X3 + Xeon when both are newly released, and by a large margin.

We're all entitled to speculate, you included. The X3 is designed to support Dual-core as well. Intel hasn't announced a dual-core Xeon yet but they hadn't announced a P4EE version of Smithfield with HT either until recently. The only thing I can see that needs to be done is validation. It might be going on as we type.... You never know...
