The problem that caused huge deficits was not tax cuts. Tax receipts expanded as a result of the cuts made during President Reagan's term. The problem was run away spending.

If you lost your job tomorrow, would you reduce your spending, or just wait til credit got cut off and declare bankruptcy?

My recollection is that Democrats in the Senate kept adding huge increases in domestic spending as a condition to restoring funding to the military budget.

People who don't do budgets are always complaining the solution to every budgetary problem is to receive more funds. In their opinions more money will always solve the problem. It is no different in households than in government. Most of the time the real problem is spending.

Additionally, President Reagan's tax cuts stimulated the economy which boosted the economy for many years.
