I don't get a SS statement every year, more like once every 3 years.

i get my first check next month... yes, you are to apply three months ahead of age 62 if you wish to start collecting. per soc sec on web. you can go through the application on their site. or call and go down. they will also calculate your military pay and add it to your earned income for soc sec purposes. so figure out the dates you spent on active duty it may add up to a few more dollars. The site will tell you what papers are required to file. I filled out everything on net and then it didn't accept it... dam. I called got appointment and advisor said you should come in and go through everything vs web. it took fifteen minutes. good luck.

we are finally on the dole! Does that make us socialists?
