So your issue is with folks discussing posters who post on other boards? It's not with the general nastiness and "clubhouse" atmosphere of exclusive threads like the Donkeys Inn? OK then.

Generally speaking, if people are banned from a thread, it makes sense to respond to issues or specific posts wherever one can. Since you and I are not banned here, we can respond to issues or ad hominems about us here directly. We don't need another venue to do so.

For those who are banned, they're free to post anywhere else they're permitted, and about anything they like. It's a situation that comes with the territory of moderated threads. As to nastiness on those threads, it goes both ways.

I've always favored temporary bans that expire after some period of time. After all, people change and civility usually wins out over time. Permanent bans promote exclusivity, which can be as nasty as anything posted on other threads. Permanent bans remind me of drug offenders in prison locked up for life.
