<<never heard of it.. do you have a reference some place.. good question... wonder why not in use?>>

Nope, no referance as to who sells them, but they have been around for quite awhile.....different types....

I have a couple of friends that are cops and ex-cops and I remember talking to them about TASR when it was still in it's birth stage. They LOVED the idea of the TASR ( what cop wouldn't) but also questioned the safety of it at the time and made referance to using "the nets" in any circumstance in which the perpertrator does not have a gun, as a far better and safer way to subdue somebody.

The only question I really asked of anybody was if the 'nets' were so good and far safer, why weren't they being widely used.....The response was that they are being widely used, we just dont ever hear much about it, as it is not 'worthy news'.....When the cops nab a shoplifter with no incident, it doesn't make headlines...not 'news worthy'...same when they subdue somebody with a 'net'...it just isn't 'news worthy', unless the crime itself is newsworthy, then you occassionaly hear about their use....I was also told that the size of the 'weapon' prohibits them from being carried on your person.....must stay in trunk of the car or whatever with the shotguns, as it is about the size of a small bazooka....certainly not huge, but nothing they can carry with them and still be 'nimb;e' enough to do their job...they break them out when needed.......If you remember about 10 or so years ago, there was a big news blurb out about the use of a larger 'net' weapon that was used on a rowdy crowd after a high school football game....seems 'netting' all those rowdy people together was not a very good thing...a couple of kids died...it was quite a mess.....and as far as I know, they no longer use the large nets, only individual nets........another thing to consider......when using a TASR, it is fairly accurate and you can hopefully get your target without hitting anybody else...the nets are obviously not a pin point gun..they spread out to make sure it gets the person and gets him good...so, the net can only be used if the perpetrator is by himself/herself, as they certainly dont want to 'net' a mugger and the muggee together <g>....but, the net has been used for a long time...certainly isn't a secret.....
