What I am saying is that I own calls on APC that I bought a year ago and that they have doubled in value. I will sell them Monday and pay 15% tax on the gain. I would like to continue holding them but the govnernment wants a lot of money from me and it is going to have to come from somewhere, and I would rather not owe 35% taxes on something else.

As to energy, I have what is getting close to 20% of my entire net worth in Energy Split capital shares, a leveraged closed end (US terminology) fund of Canadian energy trusts. It has appreciated over 50% in the last fourteen months and has also paid out about 12% in tax-deferred income. Next largest energy holds, Canadian Oil Sands and the derivative, Oil Sands Split.

Small side bet yesterday, some puts on FNM.
