9/11 is when the world changed and the US woke up not only to the danger of international terrorism but to the danger of a fp where realism from the anticommunist days had morphed into a game of "My Favorite Dictator". Game doesnt work anymore, especially in the Mideast. We need freedom, republican form of govt, democracy whenever possible, federalism when necessary and so on. There aint no room for saddamites, mullocracy or saudi/wahabis in the future world because if they remain the terrorists will win. I am not saying not to be realistic but judge that realism against regimes that dont deserve our support unless they start the process of reform. mike
